How to Search Larimer County Court Records
Larimer County court records search has three layers. The Colorado Judicial Branch docket search is free and returns hearing dates, parties, case numbers, and case-class codes. CoCourts is a paid Colorado Judicial Branch initiative operated by LexisNexis that returns register-of-action summaries statewide. The Larimer County Clerk of Court at 970-494-3500 holds the actual case files and is the only source of certified document copies. The Judicial Branch Access Guide confirms that copies are not available from commercial sites.
Before starting a search, gather the case number if known, the parties' full legal names, the approximate filing date, and the court type. Knowing whether the case sits in District Court or County Court narrows the result. The 8th Judicial District handles both court levels from the same Justice Center, with the Loveland branch taking many county court matters.
- Decide whether the goal is hearing information, a register of actions, or a document copy. Each goal uses a different tool.
- For hearing and docket information, open the docket search at coloradojudicial.gov/dockets and select the 8th Judicial District and Larimer County.
- Choose a date range, then add at least one filter beyond date such as last name, case number, attorney, or court type.
- Refine the result by choosing the courthouse (Larimer County Justice Center or Loveland County Court) and the case class.
- For paid statewide register-of-action access, sign in to CoCourts and run the same name or case-number search.
- For document copies, use the Larimer County Combined Courts records request form or email 08RecordRequest@judicial.state.co.us.

Public Access Framework for Larimer County Court Records
Colorado has three records statutes that touch court records. The Colorado Open Records Act at C.R.S. 24-72-200.1 to 24-72-205.5 governs county administrative records. The Criminal Justice Records Act at C.R.S. 24-72-301 to 24-72-309 governs records held by law enforcement and criminal justice agencies. Court case files are controlled by Colorado Judicial Branch rules, Chief Justice Directive 05-01, and case-specific statutes. The Judicial Branch Access Guide says court records and case-file documents should be requested from the court or through the online records request form. Aggregate or compiled data requests go through CJD 05-01 and the data request email at courtdatarequests@judicial.state.co.us.
The state maximum CORA hourly research and retrieval fee jumped to $41.37 effective July 1, 2024, per the Colorado General Assembly's published update. Court records have a separate fee schedule on the Colorado Judicial Branch list of fees. Larimer County does not run its own court records portal; access goes through the statewide tools.
Note: Anyone may request Larimer County court records; the requester does not have to live in Colorado or state a reason for the request.
Records That Are Sealed or Confidential in Larimer County
Several categories are not available to the public through the docket search or the Clerk of Court. Sealed cases, juvenile delinquency files, mental health records, adoption records, victim and child-witness identifying information, and grand jury materials are restricted. The Larimer court page explicitly says court staff cannot provide details on a sealed case or verify a sealed case's existence without an order. Financial identifiers such as Social Security numbers are redacted from public filings under court rule.
To view a sealed Larimer County case, the requester must file a motion with the court that handled the case. Juvenile expungement uses Colorado Judicial Branch Form JDF 301. Adult criminal record sealing uses the sealing process described by the Colorado General Assembly's sealing and expunging memorandum. A sealing order limits public access but does not block courts, prosecutors, law enforcement, or agencies authorized by law to perform background checks.
Lead-in: the Colorado General Assembly's memorandum on sealing or expunging criminal records is the primary reference for adult and juvenile sealing in Larimer County.

The memorandum identifies the statutory waiting periods, ineligible offenses, and the petition path that Larimer County filers follow.
